About this rug,

In very good condition, this rug has a low pile, a soft maroon field with scattered medallions. There were no serious wholes or wears and the small defects are repaired. The inside border is embellished with colorful arrows on an almond white background and the outer border has colorful flowers on a maroon background; which is a reflection of the field color. This rug belongs to the group of Kurdish rugs also known as 'Herki'. The colors and the type of the wool are what we find on high quality vintage Herki runners. What makes this runner a truly unique piece are the human and animal figures embellished all over it. The human figure on rugs this age can be interpreted as the expectancy of a child. Animals are a corner stone of rural life as raising live stock is the main source of income in these areas. Rugs can be made thanks to the wool they provide, so animal figures pay respect to what is important to makers of rugs.

Colors: maroon, almond white, vermillion, salmon, olive, camouflage green.
