About this rug,

This rug is a Caucasian 'soumak' with a traditional design and colors. The region this Soumak comes from usually uses tones of blue and red on their rugs. We we say Soumak, it points to a woven textile, just like a kilim however the weaving technique used is different. Soumaks are very common in the Caucusus and some regions in Eastern Turkey. One might ask 'where are those camels going?'. Indeed a truly unique design, camels steal the show on this rug; and I believe they are meant to. Camel rugs are very rare and are valued greatly when it comes to antique rugs. Due to it's age this rug can not be considered as antique, it is a vintage piece but this design is extremely rare in vintage rugs as well. Camels were and still are a significantly important animal for many reasons. Camels were what traders depended on walking long distances with their merchandise. Their hair is also the raw material for many rugs and textiles.

Colors: alizarin crimson, gamborge, dark forest green, almond white, indigo. Our photos are taken in natural light and there is very little to no color editing on photos. The very little editing is done to reflect the truecolors of the rug.
